The course is designed for VET/ HEI who are interested in opening a new chapter in entrepreneurship education. It seeks to promote Entrepreneurship education among individuals by developing educational resources for second time entrepreneurs that address the topic of entrepreneurial failure post-event and help them learn from it to grow professionally and personally. It also aims to improve teaching regarding attitudes and skills towards risk and failure in young entrepreneurs and undergraduates
Rather than viewing entrepreneurship just as a means to self-employment, the course is designed to build entrepreneurship as a transversal skill, one that is of benefit to all individuals because of the numerous ways it can be employed to further their goals.
The course looks at the importance of developing second time entrepreneurs’ innovation and enterprise skills, finding new ways to integrate high quality entrepreneurship education into new business startups and structures by training second time entrepreneurs.
The materials are designed for various uses. The course can be delivered as a complete curriculum or parts of it might be integrated to supplement other courses. All materials are provided as open source and each section of this course offers a variety of additional online materials such as case studies and activities about the topic.
As some learners might want to learn the content (or just parts of it) individually, all modules and additional learning resources are provided online.
Restart entrepreneurs can also use the course on their own for professional development. Information about how we suggest the materials can be used are provided at the beginning of each tutors workbook for each module.
The course can be used in a classroom environment as well as a self-contained distance learning course.
The syllabus of the Restart: Learning to Succeed classroom course is divided into 6 different units called modules, each of them focusing on different aspects of food industries and entrepreneurship
Module 1: Why Start Over?
Module 2: Overcoming Fears
Module 3: Business Planning with Benefit of Hindsight
Module 4: What Does Success Look Like for you?
Module 5: Practicalities of Establishing Another Business
Module 6: Access to Finance for those with Failed Business Pasts
Each Module has three different training resources:
- A PowerPoint/PDF Presentation – again this is to be used in conjunction with the Trainer’s Guide, this is a suggested course and includes the materials and activities. If it is your first time delivering the course, this is a good starting point.
- Trainer’s Guide- such materials can add value and compliment the learner’s the presentations.
- Learners Workbook- each module has a workbook that compliments each PowerPoint and other resources.
You can download the course (PowerPoints, Learner Workbooks and a Trainer’s Guide) as a zip file.
Although the Restart: Learning to Succeed classroom course is designed as a complete curriculum, each module can be used as a stand-alone session. Therefore, each module starts with a basic introduction about the topic which can be skipped if you use more than one module or the whole course.
You do not need to use the materials in any particular order. If you want to concentrate on a specific topic you can jump in at your point of interest – although using the whole course is suggested.
